1.0.1 This code is formulated with a view to making experimental animal facilities meet the requirements of environmental protection and laboratory animal feeding environment with regard to design, construction, detection and acceptance, achieve advanced technology, economic rationality, safe use, and convenient maintenance.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to the design, construction, detection and acceptance of construction, renovation and extension project for laboratory animal facilities.
1.0.3 Laboratory animal facilities shall be constructed in the principle of practicality and economy. Equipment and materials used for the laboratory animal facilities must be possessed of eligible quality certificates and inspection reports, and within the validity period. Newly-developed products and technologies shall be possessed of conformity certificates or test certificate documents.
1.0.4 Biosafety laboratories for laboratory animals shall also meet the requirements of the current national standard Architectural and Technical Code for Biosafety Laboratories (GB 50346).
1.0.5 Construction of laboratory animal facilities shall not only meet the requirements of this code but also comply with those in the current relevant ones of the nation.
