1 General Provisions

1.0.1This code is formulated with a view to preventing and reducing fire hazard of garage, motor repair shop and parking lot and protecting personal and property safety.
1.0.2This code is applicable to the fire protection design, of constructed, renovated and extended garage, motor repair shop and parking lot, and it is not applicable to the fire protection design of garage, motor repair shop and parking lot in fire station.
1.0.3As for the fire protection design of garage, motor repair shop and parking lot, the characteristics of garage, motor repair shop and parking lot shall be combined, effective fire prevention measures shall be taken, and it shall be safe, reliable, economical and reasonable with advanced technology.
1.0.4The fire protection design of garage, motor repair shop and parking lot shall not only comply with the requirements stipulated in this code, but also comply with those in the current relevant ones of the nation.

2 Terminologies

2.0.1Garage
Building used for parking trackless passenger car, freight car and engineering car which are driven by internal-combustion engine.
2.0.2Motor repair shop
Building (structure) used for maintaining and repairing trackless passenger car, freight car and engineering car which are driven by internal-combustion engine.
2.0.3Parking lot
Open area or structure exclusively used for parking trackless passenger car, freight car and engineering car which are driven by internal-combustion engine.
2.0.4Underground garage
Garage with the height difference between floor level of basement and that outside of the basement greater than 1/2 the clear height of the garage on this storey.
2.0.5Semi-underground garage
Garage with the height difference between floor level of basement and that outside of the basement greater than 1/3 the clear height of the garage on this storey and not greater than 1/2 the clear height of garage.
2.0.6Multi-storey garage
Two- or more-storey garage with building height less than or equal to 24m or garage arranged on a storey in multi-storey building above the ground floor.
